Luanda - The President of the United States of America (USA), Joe Biden, may visit Angola in the coming weeks, as part of a visit to Africa, according to the British news agency Reuters.

If it happens, it will be Biden's first visit to Africa since assuming the presidency of the United States of America in 2021, and the first by a US President to Angola.

In November last year, Biden received the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, at the White House and promised to visit the African country.

Reuters mentions that the Biden administration is committed to responding to China's strong bet on Africa, which has made major investments such as the construction of dams, power plants and railways.

The U.S. government has strongly promoted the construction of a rail link between the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country with ample resources, to the city of Lobito, in central Angola.

Biden, who will tour Africa, promised that he would visit the continent next February if he won the elections, but the withdrawal and delivery of the testimony to Kamala Harris made this scenario impossible. ART/DOJ
