Prague – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, met, on Thursday, in Prague, with members of the Angolan community in the Czech Republic, at the end of his State visit to this Eastern country European.
For more than two hours, the Head of State spoke with Angolans arriving from different parts of the Czech Republic about the projects underway in the country, in various areas.
Members of the Angolan community present were informed, in particular, of the actions that the Executive is implementing in areas such as the construction of road, hospital, airport and railway infrastructure; investments in higher education, agricultural development, among others.
According to the president of the Czech-Angolan Industrial and Agrarian Chamber, Orlando Dovala, the meeting with the Head of State was 'quite fruitful', because it allowed us to hear directly from the President of the Republic 'the State of the Nation'.
The businessman based in the Czech Republic for 35 years said that the community can also make its contribution to Angola's growth and that the President of the Republic was left with a 'positive impression'.
The Head of State was also presented with some constraints that afflict the Angolan community, especially in the area of documentation.
He explained that the community requested the opening of a consulate in the country, as its members have to resort to the Angolan Embassy in Germany,
The Angolan community residing in the Czech Republic is estimated at around 500 people, including trained staff, students and workers with different skills.
Many of them have lived in this country from the former socialist bloc, since the first years of Angola's Independence, in the 70s.
Political-diplomatic relations between Angola and the Czech Republic date back to the Cold War period, when it was part of the Soviet socialist bloc with the Slavic Republic, before its dismemberment from the then Czechoslovakia, on January 1, 1993. MR/IZ/DOJ
