Luanda – Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Wednesday in Luanda granted an audience to the Speaker of the Guinea-Bissau Parliament, Domingos Simões Pereira, with whom he analysed issues of common interest.
The visitor, who was accompanied by his country's delegation taking part in the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), told the press that it was a courtesy visit to greet and thank the Angolan people for their invitation and hospitality, as well as to express and reinforce the feeling of brotherhood he harbours for Angola and Angolans.
With regard to relations between the two countries, he considered them to be historical, since they involve different perspectives.
"I think that the two peoples remain brothers and are always available to revive these ties and deepen the relationship and take advantage of this feeling of belonging to something that is common to our values," he emphasised.
Angola and Guinea-Bissau are members of the African Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (PALOP) and the wider Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). They maintain historical and diplomatic ties of cooperation.
