Luanda – The Angolan Head of the State, João Lourenço, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
Mohamed Ould Ghazouani is the Chairperson of the African Union and President João Lourenço will succeed him in the post at the beginning of next year.
Regional issues were addressed by the two statesmen in their phone call.
Angola and Mauritania maintain political-diplomatic relations and hope to increase them based on south-south cooperation, for the benefit of the populations of both countries, especially looking at the current global dynamics.
Both countries are also working to reactivate the bilateral Joint Commission, as well as to outline strategies for the suppression of visas in diplomatic and service passports.
With more than four million inhabitants and an economy based on the production of minerals and fishing, Mauritania stands out in the Sahel region for the security and political stability. ART/DOJ
