Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated King Felipe VI of Spain on Saturday for celebrating Hispanity Day, which is marked today.
In a message sent to the Spanish monarch, the Angolan Head of State said he believes that the achievements that have been taking place in the context of exchanges between Angola and Spain will continue to intensify.
President João Lourenço also wrote that he was convinced that the excellent relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation that exist between the two countries will continue to grow closer.
Hispanity Day, Spain's National Holiday, is celebrated annually on 12 October, both in Spain and in Spanish-speaking countries.
This day commemorates the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, on 12 October 1492.
The current framework of cooperation relations between Angola and Spain is developing within a broad historical, political-diplomatic, economic, commercial, technical and cultural context, the deepening of which has been marked by a reciprocal exchange of high-level visits between Angolan and Spanish authorities.
National Day of Equatorial Guinea
In another message, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, on the fifty-sixth anniversary of the country's Independence.
"At this moment of important historical significance for the people of Equatorial Guinea, allow me to praise the remarkable trajectory of your nation, which has demonstrated exemplary dynamism in the efforts it makes to project progress and development", wrote the Angolan Head of State in the letter.
Angola and Equatorial Guinea maintain bilateral cooperation in the areas of training, transport, agriculture and fisheries.
