Bilateral cooperation
Angola and Zambia signed, in 2018, a bilateral agreement for projects aimed at improving the connectivity of road, rail, river and civil aviation communication networks.
In 2019, civil aviation authorities signed an agreement focused on increasing weekly flight frequencies between the two neighbouring countries, to a total of seven.
Recently, the Preliminary Feasibility Study for the Construction of the Railway Branch Linking the Benguela Railway (CFB) to Zambia was concluded.
This is a project financed by the African Development Bank (ADB), which starts from the Angolan town of Luacano, eastern Moxico province, to border post of Jimbe, with a length of 259 kilometres.
As an alternative solution and given its importance, the Angolan Government decided to elect this project as a priority, as part of Public-Private Partnerships.
Angola and Zambia, which also cooperate in the energy sector, form part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
