Pretoria - The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, receives, on the 12th of this month at the Presidential Palace 'Union Buildings', the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, during a two-day state visit.
The official announcement was made this week by the South African statesman's spokesman, Vincent Magwenya.
The two heads of state will take advantage of the opportunity to solidify relations between the two countries, which share deep historical ties.
After a private meeting, Presidents Cyril Ramaphosa and João Lourenço will speak at the Business Forum on the afternoon of the same day (12).
The Forum will have the motto 'South Africa and Angola: Working together to forge a new era of cooperation and partnerships to increase mutually beneficial trade and investment'.
João Lourenço responds to an invitation made by his South African counterpart, during Cyril Ramaphosa's working visit to Angola, on 8 August.
The South African President's visit covered three main areas of mutual interest, namely, strengthening the relationship between South Africa and Angola, sharing perspectives on recent developments in the South African political landscape, which led to the successful formation of a Government of National Unity.
In this regard, President Ramaphosa said that 'Angola remains interested in the political evolution of South Africa, just as we are attentive to the way Angola is progressing because we are two brotherly countries who continue to share a wonderful relationship'.
Reflection on the security situation in the Great Lakes Region, particularly developments in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was also in the spotlight.
The South African statesman applauded, at the time, the efforts of President João Lourenço, as mediator, in the work carried out towards peace in the DRC and for achieving a ceasefire between that country and neighboring Rwanda.
Angola and South Africa are signatories to the 2013 Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the DRC and the Region, along with other countries.
On that occasion, Cyril Ramaphosa was accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, as well as the head of Defense and Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga. RB/ART/DOJ
