Luanda – Angolan President João Lourenço will speak Monday at the Summit of the Future, which opened on Sunday in New York, as part of the high-level week of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, taking place on the 30th of this month.
The summit began Sunday with the adoption of the Pact for the Future, an 84-paragraph action-oriented document with chapters on sustainable development and financing for international development, peace and security.
It is also focused on science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation, youth and future generations and the transformation of global governance.
The agreement was approved with two annexes, namely the Comprehensive Digital Deal and the Declaration on Future Generations.
It is the result of a years-long process that seeks to adapt international cooperation to today's realities and tomorrow's challenges in an inclusive manner.
President João Lourenço will also speak, on Tuesday, at the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, which began on that day under the motto 'Leave no one behind, acting together to advance peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations'.
The Angolan Head of State is also expected to participate in several other multilateral events, such as a meeting of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, CPLP, and a summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACP).
To this agenda is added a set of audiences and meetings of a diplomatic nature, which will allow the Angolan President to dialogue with several heads of state and other leaders of sectors such as the economy and politics.
The program also includes a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Portuguese António Guterres. FMA/ART/CF/DOJ
