Luanda - The creation of the Jonas Malheiro Savimbi’s foundation topped the Thursday meeting between the Angolan President of Republic, João Lourenço, and the former leader of the opposition UNITA party, Isaías Samakuva.
Speaking to the press at the end of the audience, Isaías Samakuva spoke of the creation of Jonas Savimbi foundation by family and UNITA’s interest in the project.
He said that he was chosen to lead the process, which started a year ago, depending only on the legislation.
Isaias Samakuva also said that the audience granted by João Lourenço assessed the country's socio-economic situation.
"As a 77-year-old citizen in the service of the country, we had to raise the difficulties caused by the country's situation," he said.
Jonas Savimbi was the founding leader of UNITA in 1966 until 2002 the date of his death.
UNITA is currently represented by 90 MPs in the National Assembly.
