Ondjiva - The Inspector General of State Administration, João Pinto, recommended Monday in southern Cunene province, those in public office to be guided by transparent management to restore citizens' trust in institutions.
Speaking at a lecture on "Ethics in Public Administration", João Pinto said civil servants should not make public information that is an administrative secret and that damages the good name of people and institutions.
He added that, in this task of serving the public, the satisfaction of citizens' needs must be taken into account, because failures occur due to ignorance of the law, negligence and some even bad faith.
The official spoke of the need to raise awareness to get society more involved in preventing acts that jeopardize or harm citizens.
"We will work and share information, enlighten the public about what guarantees transparency and trust, but never divulge state secrets," the official said.
João Pinto is on a two-day working visit to Cunene province, where he met with the local governor, Gerdina Didalelwa, on his arrival, and is also scheduled to visit the IGAE facilities, meet with the board of directors and meet with the organization’s employees. PEM/LHE/SC/TED/AMP
