Luanda - The young Indira Fuacanangui is the only Angolan to represent the country at the conference on youth leadership organized by the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders of Nigeria (MWFAAN) to take place on November 20 to 21in Abuja, Nigeria.
The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, the flagship program of the US Government's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
According to a note sent to ANGOP, the conference emphasizes the critical role of youth leadership in promoting economic growth and sustainable development across Africa.
An important highlight will be the launch of the MWF app called “Ubuntu Trades”, an innovative platform designed to support Mandela Washington Fellows in exploring business opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The app, together with the conference, aims to equip young leaders with the tools, resources and guidance needed to bridge the gap between leadership, economic growth and sustainable development.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the US Government's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
Created in 2014, the “Fellowship” celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2024 and has brought some 6,500 young leaders from all sub-Saharan African countries to the United States for academic and leadership training.
The young people, aged between 25 and 35, are innovators and talented leaders in their communities and countries.
Indira Fuacanangui is a specialist in the management of non-governmental organizations, working to improve the lives of children through education and the integration of adolescents into society.
She holds a master's degree in International Relations and Practical Diplomacy from Seton Hall University in New Jersey, USA.
In 2018 she graduated in Public Administration at Angola’s Óscar Ribas University. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow (2022) and served as Angola's ambassador in Syracuse, New York, where she obtained a degree in Leadership in Public Management at Syracuse University in New York, United States of America.
She is currently vice president of the United States Alumni Association in Angola (US3A), a member of the International Leadership Association (ILA) and a member of the SIETAR Association in the United States. ART/TED/AMP
