Uíge – At least 1,046 unexploded explosive devices were destroyed Friday, in northern Uíge province, the National Demining Institute (INAD) has announced.
The relics had been collected in the Uige province’s 16 municipalities, a task started in 2022, in a total of 1,456 explosive devices and 159 different types of ammunitions
Speaking to the press, the representative of the National Mine Action Agency, Daniel Paulo, explained that the other explosive devices will be destroyed in the coming days.
He said that awareness campaign on landmines danger launched in 2022 covered some 1,403 citizens of the municipalities of Negage, Uíge, Quitexe, Songo and Maquela do Zombo.
According to the source, the four brigades based in Uíge confirmed, in 2022, the existence of four new minefields located in the municipalities of Maquela do Zombo, Milunga and Cangola.
