Ondjiva - At least 1,837 unexploded explosive devices were destroyed Friday in the southern Cunene province, by the National Demining Institute (INAD).
These included 1,750 different ammunitions, four anti-tank mines, 30 mortars, 11 grenades, among others.
Speaking to the press, the head of INAD's provincial department in Cunene, Paulo Taukondjele, said that the devices were collected, between January and November, in the communes of Ondjiva, Môngua and Ombala-yo-Mungo.
He also said that next year INAD would carry out a survey and clear areas in the municipalities of Cuvelai, Cahama and Curoca.
