Luanda - The Anglican church in Angola reiterated this Wednesday, in Luanda, its willingness to cooperate with the Angolan State and support all government initiatives for development.
The intention was expressed by the bishop of the “Good Shepherd” Anglican church, Filomena das Neves Estevão, at the end of an audience granted by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace.
According to the prelate, the Angolan people are unique and the church wants everyone, wherever they are, to be dignified, so they are available to transmit values and spiritual peace.
Regarding the meeting, she said that it served to be officially presented to the authorities, highlighting the fact that she was the first woman to hold the highest position in the church localy.
She made it known that the church of “Bom Pastor” has more than seven thousand faithful and its areas of jurisdiction are the regions of Dande, Caxito (Bengo), Cabinda and Zaire.
The Anglican Church was founded in England centuries ago and brought to Angola by the missionary Peterson who opened the 1st mission in Cabinda.
Filomena das Neves Estevão succeeds Bishop Emeritus Dom André Soares, now retired.
