Lubango - The deputy public prosecutor in central Huila province Celma da Silva Lourenço on Saturday said the province is a "good" example in the fight against corruption, with a slowdown in crimes of this kind.
The magistrate made the statement during the 45th anniversary of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) marked on April 27, underlining that the ongoing repression and sensitization measures carried out by this judicial body are slowing down the prosecution of corruption crimes.
Although there are corruption cases being processed by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor considered it "positive" that there has been a slowdown in the number of corruption, embezzlement and other related cases from mid-2023 to the present day.
For Celma da Silva Lourenço, the slowdown doesn't mean that no work is being done, on the contrary "it's a clear sign that the policies and measures, both at the level of the PGR and other awareness-raising institutions, are having the desired effects".
"It means that managers are committed to their responsibility for the management of public assets in the measures we have adopted, not just repressive ones, but above all preventive ones, through awareness-raising," the magistrate said.
This year, the PGR in Huíla is processing 24 cases of economic crime. BP/MS/TED/AMP
