São Tomé and Príncipe - Guinea-Bissau is expected to host the next Summit of the heads of State and Government of the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) as well as take over the chair of the organisation between 2025 and 2027.
The President of São Tomé and Príncipe Carlos Vila Nova announced this on Sunday while addressing the XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Guinea-Bissau is expected to succeed São Tomé and Príncipe, which took over leadership of the organisation on Sunday.
The Summit of Heads of State and Government is the highest body of the CPLP. Its responsibilities are to define and guide the organisation's general policy and strategies.
Founded on July 17, 1996, the CPLP comprises Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor. JFS/AL/ADR/NIC
