Oslo - Angolan minister for Natural Resources, Oil and Gas Diamamatino Azevedosaid Friday in Oslo, Norway, that Angolan government plans to launch an international tender for new shareholders in telecommunications company Unitel.
As part of the nationalisation of some companies underway in the country, the shares of two Unitel shareholders were recently transferred to the Angolan State.
Minister Azevedo, who was speaking to press , said that the move was aimed at protecting "strategic assets" for the telecommunications sector in Angola.
The measure, according to the minister, also aims to protect and ensure greater stability and efficiency of the mobile telephone company, in which Sonangol is one of the main shareholders.
The company currently has over 12 million customers. It operates almost throughout the country and has a market share of 80 percent, providing its customers with 2G, 3G and 4G services in most provinces.
