Cabinda – The governor of the province of Cabinda, Suzana de Abreu, defended Thursday, in the city of Ponta Negra, construction of infrastructure capable of boosting the socioeconomic development of the border area between Angola and the Republic of Congo.
Suzana de Abreu made this appeal in a meeting she held with businesspeople from the city of Ponta Negra, as part of a three-day visit to Congo Brazzaville at the invitation of the authorities of this neighboring country.
According to the governor, there is an urgent need to make transversal investments to benefit the population of the two neighboring countries who live on the border perimeter.
She said that construction of infrastructures such as roads, cross-border markets, among others, can further boost economic and trade ties between the two States.
In turn, the Ponta Negra's Mayor, Alexandre Paka, said that despite both countries being linked by land and sea, there is a need to work more on strengthening cooperation in different sectors with reciprocal advantages.
He expressed his country's availability and willingness to continue cooperating with the Angolan authorities, taking advantage of Angola's experience in the most varied areas of social and economic life.
It is important to note that a considerable part of agricultural products produced in the province of Cabinda, such as bananas, cassava and citrus fruits, are sold in the Republic of Congo. ING/JL/CF/DOJ
