Mbanza Kongo - Angola’s northern Zaire province Governor, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, on Tuesday in Mbanza Kongo, called for greater control and inspection of the border perimeter with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to stop fuel smuggling and illegal immigration.
According to the Governor, who was speaking at the presentation of the new provincial commander of Zaire of the National Police, Commissioner José António Gaspar, to the members of the local government, greater attention should also be given to tax evasion and other related crimes that occur on the border line with the neighboring country.
He asked the new commander of the corporation to pay greater attention to the border posts of Luvo and Kanga Nguvo (Mbanza Kongo), Minga and Buela (Cuimba) and Kimbumba, in the municipality of Soyo, as they are the main ports of illegal entry of foreign citizens into the national territory.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho promised institutional support from the provincial government to the new commander, so that he can carry out his mission with zeal and selflessness.
In turn, the new commander of the National Police, Commissioner José António Gaspar, said he was aware of the most frequent crimes that the province of Zaire records, so he reassured the local authorities that he will do everything not to defraud the trust placed in him.
The provincial delegate of the Ministry of the Interior, assured that scrupulous compliance with the law and other regulations that govern the operation of the foreign sector will be his 'compass' for the materialization of the recommended objectives.
On the occasion, the second provincial commander of the National Police and the commander of the Customs Fiscal Police in Zaire, David Chitundo and Lourenço René Sacandela, respectively, were also introduced. DA/JL/DOJ
