Luanda - Luanda governor Manuel Homem has denounced the existence of businessmen who try to bribe the State authorities, with a view to disrupting the ongoing reorganisation process of the trade.
Manuel Homem said he had recently received a box containing money, but he did not, however, reveal the value or those involved in the case.
Luanda governor was speaking at a meeting with businessmen and business associations aimed at clarifying on the process of reorganising trade in Luanda held Monday.
In his speech, the governor recognised the existence of good businessmen, with some of them operating in precarious conditions.
"Who is legalised, organised, with the procedures up to date, why does he need to do that?", asked the government official, stating that the businessmen in question appear with "heavy sums".
Manuel Homem also said that the doors are open to the complaints about the behaviour of Government agents who do not facilitate the process or who accept the practice of bribery.
During the meeting, Manuel Homem said that 50 wholesale warehouses, operating in inappropriate areas, were transferred to Kicolo Shopping, in the municipality of Cacuaco, in Luanda.
Other warehouses, in the same condition, will move to the municipalities of Viana and Cacuaco.
Law n.º 1/07 (Law of Commercial Activities) sets specific places for wholesale activity, rather than in urban areas".
Manuel Homem said that Luanda government closed about 300 stores and warehouses, due to irregular trading practices, as part of the ongoing Commercial Reorganisation Plan in Luanda.
They include the structures located along the avenues Cónego Manuel das Neves, the surroundings of the São Paulo area (Urban District of Sambizanga ), and Ngola Kiluanje (Urban District of Hoji Ya Henda).
The Trade Reorganisation Plan aims, among other objectives, to restore the legality of formal and informal trade along the roads of Luanda province. ML/VM/NIC
