Solwezi - The Zambian business class has open doors to invest in Angola, and in particular in the province of Moxico, in the sectors of agribusiness, mining industry, agriculture and other potential, Governor Ernesto Muangala said on Wednesday in Solwezi.
Muangala said that the potential of the Northwest province, such as the advanced copper mining industry and other productive infrastructure, which makes Zambia the second largest producer in Africa, are of interest to Moxico, since geological studies point to the existence of this ore in Moxico.
“We intend to get the most out of the experience,” the governor of Moxico reaffirmed during the official opening of the II Meeting of Regional Cooperation and Cultural Exchange between the provincial administrations of Northwest Zambia and Moxico-Angola.
Ernesto Muangala also highlighted the need for greater investment in agricultural production, with a high rate of farm production, as it is one of the firm steps to solve the problem of food and nutrition security, and youth employability.
According to the governor, the materialization of these investments, based on the agreements already signed, will bring development of human capital, improvement of communication routes, such as roads, railways, strengthening of electricity networks, in addition to agricultural and cultural production.
In this regard, he reaffirmed that the acts of proximity between the two peoples, of good neighborliness, promoting the free movement of people and goods, in and out, in search of better services, should continue.
For his part, the minister of the Northwest Province, Robert Lihefu, believes in fruitful cooperation for the good of the people, in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, health and education.
He stated that there are challenges with tangible and practicable solutions, and the two governments just need to continue with the dynamics of creating political conditions for the business class to have a more practical, efficient and effective intervention.
This initiative by the Moxico government, in establishing cooperation agreements with the neighboring provinces of Zambia, aims to implement the will of the presidents of Angola, João Lourenço, and Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, in early 2023, to explore the strategic potential of the Lobito Corridor.
