Rio de Janeiro – The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, granted an audience on Monday afternoon to the President of the European Council, Charles Michael.
The content of the conversation between the Angolan statesman and the European leader did not transpire to the press, but the meeting took place on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 19th G20 Summit, in which both participated as guests.
João Lourenço's diplomatic activity in Brazil includes meetings with other personalities from the world of politics, science and culture, high finance and the pharmaceutical industry.
Among these individuals, the Head of State examined with the CEO of Grupo Industrial Farmacéutico EMS, Carlos Eduardo Sánchez, the possibility of extending its business to Angola.
João Lourenço also received Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.
On Sunday, after his arrival, the Angolan President was received by his Brazilian counterpart, Lula da Silva, in a meeting that decided to relaunch bilateral cooperation at all levels, with an emphasis on the productive sector, with private business as an anchor.
The two statesmen addressed concrete issues related to the global agenda, cooperation in the fields of training in the area of health, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, agro-industry, mineral resources, energy (electrification and extension of the medium voltage line) and the financial sector.
In addition, the two Heads of State addressed cooperation in the field of defence, particularly in the Navy, within the framework of the South Atlantic. ADR/IZ/DOJ
