Luanda - US President Joe Biden said Tuesday that the future of the world lies in Africa.
Joe Biden made the statement at the opening of official talks between the Angolan and US governments, as part of his 72-hour visit to the country.
The US president said that the statement is not hyperbole, since a continent with a billion people, with great diversity, will be successful in 20 years.
The statements, he explained, do not come from selfish efforts, stressing that if Africans are successful, “we will be too”.
Joe Biden thanked his counterpart, João Lourenço, for the reception and assured him of a solid relationship between Angola and the US.
“The United States is absolutely dedicated to Africa and the testimony to all this is what I told you publicly when I was with you before,” Biden said.
The US president said that he intends to discuss with Angola “how democracy produces results for people, since without that people can't feel democracy”.
On the second day of his visit, Joe Biden was received with military honors and greetings from the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, followed by the singing of the anthems of both countries by the Presidential band.
During the meeting, the statesmen assessed the effectiveness of existing agreements and planned new areas for investment, especially involving the private sector.
During his visit, Joe Biden is expected to make several announcements about the Lobito Corridor, but also about areas such as health, food security and agribusiness.
This is the first official visit by a US president to Angola and aims to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries.
Angola and the US are working to overcome a number of pressing and critical challenges, such as improving infrastructure in Africa and increasing economic opportunities and sustainable development.
The expansion of technologies and scientific cooperation, strengthening of peace and security and food security are also other priorities defined by the partners. VIC /AMP
