Paris – French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday in Paris welcomed the role of Angolan mediation in the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Rwanda.
Emmanuel Macron was speaking at a joint press conference with his Angolan counterpart, at the Elysee Palace, at the end of official talks between delegations from Angola and France that marked the beginning of President João Lourenço's 48-hour state visit.
On the occasion, the French statesman declared his support for the Luanda Process for the search for peace in the DRC, led by President João Lourenço as mediator mandated by the African Union (AU) and Champion of Peace and Reconciliation.
According to Macron, the French government's priority in the Great Lakes region must be dialogue, the search for lasting peace and respect for the territorial integrity of the DRC. IZ/DOJ
