Luanda - The Aviation General Altino José dos Santos reiterated Monday in Luanda that the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) are the bulwark of peace, stability, unity and national reconciliation in Angola.
General Altino José dos Santos who is the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces was speaking on the occasion of the celebration of the 32 years of the corporation's existence.
The Aviation General emphasised that the FAA has a sublime importance in the geopolitical and geostrategic scenario in the Southern Region, particularly in Africa and the world.
Altino dos Santos said there was a need for the FAA to continually adapt its military apparatus to changing circumstances, with the power to dissuade and the capacity to respond effectively to the defence of territorial integrity, sovereign bodies and the population.
the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces also referred to the regional geostrategic zones of which Angola is a part, with a view to collective security and within the framework of constitutional legality and the international commitments made by the country.
"The actions of FAA in carrying out peacekeeping and humanitarian aid missions will continue to improve, taking into account the adequacy of doctrinal aspects and the standardisation of procedures so that they have the desired efficiency," he said.
He stressed that all of these missions, require the permanent preparation of the armed forces, their modernisation with human resources, infrastructure, techniques and weaponry, as well as the processes of recruitment, selection and military incorporation to rejuvenate their ranks.
He also said that training centres, schools, institutes and academies must continue to be nurseries of cadres for the military institution, working to improve the profile of personnel at all levels, training the new soldier for the challenges of the present and the future.
The Chief of Staff expressed his respect, affection, admiration and appreciation for the "brave fighters, living or dead, who in the service of the FAA wrote the golden pages of Angola's history with sweat and blood, in the struggle for freedom, independence and peace".
During the activity, which was preceded by the laying of a wreath at the monument of the unknown soldier, on Luanda's Marginal, there was a parade of blocks with the three branches of the FAA (Army, Navy and National Air Force).
Regarding the date, some of the soldiers were promoted and merit certificates awarded, as well as prizes for the winning teams in the futsal, eleven-a-side football, chess and athletics tournaments, all made up of Angolan Armed Forces personnel. ECC/MDS/DAN/DOJ
