Dundo - The militant Filomena Miza, on Saturday, during the 7th Extraordinary Conference, was elected to the position of provincial secretary of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in Lunda Norte Province, with 364 votes, which correspond to 97.84% of the valid votes.
The new provincial secretary of the ruling MPLA party was born on January 26, 1972, in Luena, Province of Moxico and replaces Deolinda Satula Vilarinho in the position, three years later.
Filomena Elizabete Chitula Miza Aires, with a degree in Geography and Educational Sciences and a postgraduate degree in Local Administration, has as her main challenge the recovery of the two provincial parliamentary seats lost to the opposition party UNITA in the 2022 general elections.
In her farewell speech, the outgoing first secretary, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, called for unity and cohesion within the party, with a view to meeting current and future political challenges.
She urged militants, especially the more experienced ones, to support the new secretary, in strengthening and revitalizing grassroots organizations, in recruiting more militants into the ranks of the political party.
To her, the party must strengthen its insertion in communities, to better interpret the problems that afflict the population and find short, medium and long-term solutions.
Meanwhile, the Conference held in the city of Dundo, capital of the province of Lunda Norte, was attended by 429 delegates from the ten municipalities namely Chitato, Cambulo, Cuango, Caungula, Cuilo, Capenda-Camulemba, Lubalo, Lucapa, Lóvua and Xá-muteba.
