Luanda – A wreath of flowers was placed on Wednesday, in Luanda, at the tomb of the former president of the republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, which is next to the Memorial Dr. António Agostinho Neto, as part of his 82nd birth anniversary, marked on August 28.
The event, which was carried out by the Eduardo do Santos Foundation (FESA), brought together the Axialunda Association, as well as the Lwini Foundation members and friends.
Speaking to the press, the director of FESA, João de Deus, highlighted that the institution will continue to work to fulfill the legacy of its patron, calling on the new generation to preserve love for others, the fight for peace, reconciliation and development of the country.
In turn, the Lwini Foundation executive director, Alfredo Ferreira, José Eduardo dos Santos should be reminded with the holding of scientific, sports, cultural activity, among others.
On the other hand, the Axiluanda Association, Fernando Mota “Kito”, highlighted the contribution of José Eduardo dos Santos regarding the conquest of peace and the development of Angola.

Before the tribute, there was a religious moment, led by Canon Apolónio Graciano. A religious celebration is also planned for today, at the Church of Jesus (Sé Catedral), in Cidade Alta.
José Eduardo dos Santos came to power in September 1979, following the death of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.
He served as President of the Republic for 38 years, until September 2017, when he was succeeded by the current Head of State, João Lourenço.
In addition to being Head of State, he was Leader of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and died of illness in Barcelona, Spain in July 2022, at the age of 78. LDN/ART/MRA/DOJ
