Luanda - The President of the ruling MPLA João Lourenço on Friday in Luanda, reaffirmed the Angolan government's commitment to building and rehabilitating essential infrastructures for the country's development.
Speaking at the opening of the 6th ordinary meeting of the MPLA Central Committee, João Lourenço cited the construction of canals and dams for water storage, oil refineries, hospitals, schools, sports and cultural and housing centers, among others.
According to Joaõ Lourenço it is an ambitious program that includes port, airport, road, communications and space infrastructures, hydroelectric projects and photovoltaic parks.
The president added it is currently underway the construction of the Caculo Cabaça hydroelectric dam and the Bita and Quilonga projects to supply water to Luanda, which will benefit more than 12 million inhabitants.
João Lourenço added that water storage projects such as Cova do Leão, Ndue, Curoca and Calucuve, in Cunene, and Curunjamba, Giraul, Inamangando, Bero and Bentiaba, in Namibe are among those accomplished. JFS/VIC /TED/AMP
