Luanda - Angolan President João Lourenço highlighted Tuesday the Government commitment to improving maternal and child health conditions, even in difficult times for the country's economy.
João Lourenço considered maternal and child health a priority for the investments of the Government he leads.
"It is no coincidence that my Executive has in maternal and child health a priority of its investments, even in more difficult moments of the economy", he said on Facebook ahead of the World Breastfeeding Day celebrated on August 1.
As part of the date, the Angolan President addressed words of appreciation to the "woman mother who fulfills this gift on which the health of children significantly depends, the guarantee of continuity of any nation".
World Breastfeeding Day is celebrated annually in August, on the recommendation of the World Health Organisation (WHO), with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The date warns of the urgency of adequate nutrition in early childhood, in order to guarantee the growth and development of children. AL/ADR/NIC
