Luanda – At least five million dollars will be made available in the next five years by the United States of America aiming to extend and strengthen English language training for Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) military personnel, within the framework of bilateral cooperation between both countries.
For this, Friday in Luanda, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of National Defence and Veterans of the Homeland and the U.S. Embassy in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, under the FAA English Language Programme.
The U.S support comes from the funding of the International Military Education and Training (IMET), aiming to assit FAA English Language Programme, since 2004, this mechanism has allowed the training of 31 English instructors in US.
It was in this regard that, through the approval of the US Congress, the Embassy in Angola received another five million dollars.
The new funding aims to train more English instructors, strengthen the curriculum in this field and the management aspects of the programme, as well as to provide equipments and training laboratories for identified locations over the next three five years.
The implementation and day-to-day management of the project will be in charge of the Office of Security Cooperation of the United States and of Angola's National Defence Policy Directorate.
