Luanda - The President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez Pérez Castejón, Thursday showed his country's interest in cooperating in economic stabilisation and diversification, with a view to boosting the sustainable development of Angola.
The Spanish leader said that preferential areas of cooperation were industry, water and sanitation, solid waste treatment, health assistance and tourism.
Pedro Sánchez, who has been visiting Angola since Wednesday, was speaking at the opening of official talks between the delegations of the two countries.
The Head of the Spanish government asked that efforts be focused on economic recovery and on building sustainable relations for both economies.
The visiting Premier said that Angola is a priority country for Spain, in the framework of the Spanish strategy for Africa, aiming at peace, stability and prosperity in the respective societies.
He stated that Covid 19, which is devastating for the world economy, requires the strengthening of exchanges so that urgent global challenges such as climate change, economic stability, the fight against inequality and to reach the millennium development goals, can be tackled.
The visiting leader encourages Angola to continue with its role in regional pacification and political stability.
He stresses that Angola has made a great effort to counteract the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and supports the idea that vaccination should be for all countries in the world, reaffirming Spain's support for the Covax initiative.
