Luanda - Angola's ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda, on Saturday in the city of London, said that every Angolan must feel part of the construction of the country and national unity
The diplomat, who was speaking during the celebration of Angola's Independence Day, marked on 11 November, emphasized that “national unity allowed us to rebuild the country and consolidate peace and internal cohesion that drives us to face adversity and become rich in our identity”.
The ambassador said that Angola with its vast wealth and hard-working people, can build a robust economy, highlighting that producing is synonymous with economic advancement and wealth generation, valuing the work of each farmer, worker and businessman.
Geraldo Nunda stressed that it is necessary to reinforce the production of primary goods and the manufacturing industry that adds value to resources, with the capacity to satisfy domestic and export needs.
The ambassador also said that the date carries the memory of a heroic struggle marked by moments of turning point, sacrifice and commitment of a people for freedom and social progress.
While speaking he highlighted that the nation's prosperity is not only measured by economic growth, but also by the ability to manage its resources in a sustainable way to guarantee the survival of future generations, protecting the environment and the future of Angola.
He said that agricultural and economic practices must protect rivers and biodiversity, reaffirming a commitment to sustainability.
Ambassador Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda launched the challenge to businesspeople present at the event to create the United Kingdom and Angola Chamber of Commerce with the aim of boosting economic diplomacy.
The political and cultural act for the celebration of the 49th anniversary of National Independence included messages from community associations.
The representative of the Confederation of Angolan Associations in the United Kingdom (CAARU), Mário Agostinho, said that the fundamental role of the Angolan diaspora, since the fight for independence, and asserting itself as a foundation for development, promotion of culture, defending the interests of the community and sending financial remittances to Angola.
He added that “CAARU brings together 18 community associations legally constituted in the United Kingdom with the mission of promoting Angolan identity in the world, always with the spirit of solidarity and patriotism”.
The representative of the organization founded in 2018, welcomed the approach of the embassy and the consulate general with the community, a fact that allowed closer ties and created opportunities for strategic partnerships in the economic sector for the benefit of Angola and the United Kingdom.

Teodoro Carvalho, representative of the Union of Angolan Organizations in the United Kingdom (UDOA), founded in 2020, highlighted community work with emphasis on legal advice for Angolans in the United Kingdom, philanthropic actions in favor of needy and orphaned Angolan children, as well as Portuguese classes for minors.
Angolans also benefited from external community actions to defend their rights, needs and interests by two other organizations that also participated in the event with messages, namely the Union of Angolans in the United Kingdom (UARU) and the Confederation of Angolan Communities in Ireland (CCAI).
Among the community members, the doctoral student in medicine at the University of Glasgow, Valdemar Tchipenhe, presented to the participants a summary of the study in the area of cancer sciences, especially in the investigation of the transfer of mitochondria from the bone marrow.
However, the cultural moment was livened up by the performance of musicians Volinho, Samú and their band, which is made up of Angolans living in the city of London.
During the cultural activity, the Angolan diplomatic mission in London presented an exhibition of “Made in Angola” products, such as coffee, beans and food pasta, in line with the motto of the celebrations of the forty-ninth anniversary of National Independence “National Unity, Production and Development”.
