Luanda - Angola's ambassador to Zambia, Albino Malungo, recently highlighted Angola's efforts to diversify the economy and promote sustainable development.
The diplomat, who was speaking in the province of Solwezi (Zambia), at the ceremony alluding to the 49th anniversary of National Independence, mentioned the socio-economic programs in Angola, which show the Executive's commitment to the well-being and development of the population.
According to a note from the Consulate General of Angola in Solwezi, which arrived at ANGOP on Friday, on the occasion the ambassador also expressed gratitude to Zambia for its historical support and continued cooperation, underlining joint projects such as the Lobito Corridor and the Energy Cooperation and Visa Waiver Agreements, which foster economic growth between both countries.
On the other hand, he called for the continuity of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Zambia, with a view to a future of shared peace and prosperity.
The Consul General of Solwezi, Agostinho Raimundo dos Santos, praised the sacrifice made by many Angolans, as well as the solidarity of some friendly countries to achieve national independence.
The diplomat also spoke of the difficulties in the insertion of Angolans into Zambian society, due to the lack of documents, as well as highlighted the possibility, soon, of the Angolan State having its first heritage in the locality.
The program of the celebrations included visits to the works of the Official Residence of the Angolan Consulate in Solwezi, which after 32 years of the opening of the Consulate General in this province, will be able to count on the first infrastructure of the State.
A performance by singers Sandra Nyakatolo and Gelson Castro, a football match, a commemorative dinner, among other activities, were part of the agenda.
