Baku - The Angolan ambassador to Azerbaijan, Augusto da Silva Cunha, on Sunday expressed Angola's interest in signing several agreements with the authorities of this country, to strengthen cooperation.
According to the diplomat, a proposal for a memorandum of understanding on public consultations is in the pipeline, with the aim of evolving into bilateral cooperation between Angola and Azerbaijan, in the field of training.
According to the ambassador, who was speaking to the press, regarding Angola's participation in the climate conference, it is hoped that the visit of the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança Costa, to Baku, will help to start a deeper and more fruitful cooperation.
He therefore referred to a proposal for an agreement on the abolition of visas in diplomatic and service passports, and stressed that, with this cooperation, Angola wins, as Azerbaijan is a potentially rich country
in oil and gas, with 90% feeding its GDP.
The diplomat said that the Vice President of the Republic will also present courtesy greetings to the Azerbaijani authorities, in the person of the Prime Minister.
'We are creating conditions for the Vice President to witness the signing of the memorandum of public consultations, a very important step to revitalize cooperation with Azerbaijan,' he stressed.
He also announced that the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, will be present, on Monday, 11, at the commemorative act of Angola's 49th anniversary of independence, in the city of Baku.
In addition to the official, he said, the ceremony will be attended by Azerbaijani officials and diplomats.
The Vice-President arrived in this country on Sunday afternoon to participate in the 29th High-Level Conference on Climate Change, which takes place from 11 to 12 this month, under the motto 'Increase Ambition, Enable Action'.
COP-29 aims to debate climate change, find solutions to the environmental problems that affect the planet and negotiate agreements, and in recent decades, countries have been dedicated to finding solutions to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
COP-29 has as a priority the negotiation around the new collective climate finance targets,
