Luanda - The Angolan diplomat José Patrício presented Monday to the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the letters that accredited him as a non-resident ambassador to this country.
During the audience at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid expressed his desire to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with Angola in the most varied areas, highlighting the need to establish legal mechanisms for their rapid implementation.
Iraq said it intends, soon, to appoint a non-resident ambassador, initially, and then resident in Luanda as a sign of the Middle Eastern country's interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Angola.
José Patrício thanked the welcome and took the opportunity to highlight that Angola, as a sign of confidence and determination, is already investing in Iraq through Sonangol P&P, in the exploration and production of two oil fields onshore from the northeast region of Mosul.
José Patrício is also a resident ambassador in Turkey and a non-resident ambassador in the republics of Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as part of the Angolan diplomacy strategy of regional coverage.
