Luanda - Angola's ambassador to Mauritania, Adão Pinto, on Tuesday in Nouakchott handed over his diplomatic credentials to President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
Residing in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, the diplomat will take on the role of non-resident Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to Mauritania, a country with which the Angolan state is working to strengthen bilateral relations in a wide range of areas.
According to a press release from the embassy, during the meeting, they reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of economic development.
"Angola and Mauritania are also working to reactivate the Bilateral Joint Commission, as well as outlining strategies for visa exemptions for diplomatic and service passports", says the note.
With more than four million inhabitants and an economy based on mineral production and fishing, Mauritania stands out in the Sahel region given its security and political stability.
