Luanda - Angola's ambassador to the United States of America , Agostinho Van-Dúnem, on Thursday at Howard University in Washington DC learnt about opportunities for collaboration in teaching, scientific research and scholarships awards to Angolan students.
According to a press release, during the visit the diplomat was received by the teaching and administrative staff of Howard University, including Dean Ben Vinson III, for productive discussions on possible academic partnerships between Howard University and universities in Angola.
The note adds that the main focus of the talks was the possibility for collaborations in the teaching and scientific research sectors to strengthen academic ties between Angola and the United States.
Ambassador Agostinho Van-Dúnem expressed Angola's interest in establishing teacher and student exchange programs, developing joint curricula and carrying out collaborative research projects in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting discussed possible initiatives to award scholarships to Angolan students to study at Howard University, providing them with opportunities for quality education in an internationally recognized academic environment.
Agostinho Van-Dúnem stressed the importance of academic partnerships for Angola's educational and socio-economic development, emphasizing that his country’s government is committed to investing in the talent and intellectual capacity of the young people.
Howard University warmly welcomed the proposed collaboration and affirmed its interest in strengthening academic ties with institutions in Angola.
