Luanda – The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced this Wednesday, in Luanda, the unilateral closure of its diplomatic mission in Angola.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) to which ANGOP has had access, the decision was informed by the country's ambassador, Jo Pyong Chol, to the Angolan Foreign minister, Téte António.
Jo Pyong Chol's farewell message says that due to the decision coming from Pyongyang, the North Korean embassy has been closed and he will return to his country.
In turn, Foreign minister Téte António wished the ambassador, who served his country in Angola for five years, success in his future professional career.
Relations between Angola and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have been in force since Angola's independence on 11 November 1975, and the two countries cooperate in the fields of health, construction and information technology
