Luanda - Three candidates have been elected for the position of the Deputy Chief Justice of Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court Justice Efigénia Clemente obtained on Tuesday the highest number of votes (8), among the three candidates running for the position.
During the process, led by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Joël Leonardo, Justices Daniel Geraldes and Maria Teresa Marçal received six and one votes respectively.
The candidates will be submitted to the Head of State.
The country’s Constitution (CRA) provides that the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is appointed by the President of the Republic from among the three candidates selected by two-thirds of the Justices in office.
However, regardless of the results of today's election, which put Efigénia Clemente "apparently" in an advantageous position, the nomination could fall to any of the three candidates.
With only three candidates, the process recorded six null votes and three absences among the 24 voters (all advisory judges), including the competitors. VC/AL/NIC
