Cazombo - The sovereign of the Luvale tribe, Queen Nhakatolo, on Monday in the eastern Moxico Province, appealed for the need to preserve the peace environment that has been lived in the country for the past 20 years.
The Queen made the statement to the press ahead of the fifth elections to take place on August 24 with some 14.3 million voters expected to go to the polls to elect the President, Vice President and the 220 deputies to the National Assembly.
The Queen called for the electoral process to take place in an atmosphere of harmony, among Angolans, for the stability and consolidation of the country's development.
According to the queen, the winning party of the elections should continue with the development programme, fighting regional asymmetries, especially in the eastern region of the country, as well as consolidating national unity process.
The chief regent Tchinuke, the highest authority of the Lunda-ndembo tribe, called for unity among Angolans, so that the general elections are a true celebration of democracy.
The Municipality of Alto Zambeze, which is 519 kilometers away from Luena City has more than 56,000 voters distributed in six communes, namely Cavungo, Caianda, Lumbala-Kaquengue, Macondo and Lóvua.
Moxico has registered 416,118 voters registered.
The political parties running for the elections are MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, PHA and P-NJANGO and the electoral coalition CASA-CE.
