Luanda - The President of the ruling MPLA party João Lourenço highlighted Saturday the rehabilitation of roads and public lighting in central Bié province.
The MPLA candidate for President of Republic for 2022 August 24 general elections, who was speaking in a mass rally in Cuito city, highlighted, among others, the rehabilitation of the Cunje-Andulo road, which enables easy circulation between the two cities and the municipalities.
João Lourenço pointed out, for the next mandate, the rehabilitation of the road that connects Bié to Cuanza Sul (Andulo/Mussende), to make the connection between the two provinces and other Angolan localities easier.
Among the projects for the next mandate, João Lourenço also pointed out the rehabilitation of the road parallel to the Benguela Railroad up to the municipality of Luau (Moxico), which links the two provinces and facilitates the circulation and flow of agricultural products from the countryside to the cities.
"We need roads for development," said the leader of MPLA, at the end of the first week of the electoral campaign.
In relation to the management of the Benguela Railroad (CFB), João Lourenço said the attribution of its management to a private consortium is the best solution for its operation.
"This is how it was in the colonial times and this is how it will be. We are going to put the Benguela Railroad back in good working order", Lourenço said.
João Lourenço also highlighted the contribution of the local people to the country's development process and the conquest of peace and national reconciliation.
The parties disputing the political and legislative power in this year’s elections are MPLA, UNITA, APN, PRS, FNLA, PHA and P-NJANGO, as well as the coalition CASA-CE.
The election campaign is running from 24 July to 22 August.
It will be the fifth time that Angolans go to the polls since 1992.
