Caxito - Jurist Mário Lyuvola on Friday recommended journalists in Bengo province not to incur in the crimes of libel, defamation and insult, during the electoral period.
Speaking at a conference on the electoral law and electoral crimes, he said that during this period crimes of libel, defamation and slander were common, and that journalists should be responsible and impartial.
He reminded that the new penal code dictates that journalists in the exercise of their functions can be held responsible for their actions, and that ignorance of the law does not inhibit their criminal responsibility.
