Luanda - The Archbishop of Luanda, Dom Filomeno Vieira Dias, said Sunday at Muxima Sanctuary that the country "demands" civic responsibility from Angolans, as this is a challenging moment for the country.
Speaking at the closing homily of the pilgrimage to Muxima Sanctuary held on August 4 to 7, the cleric appealed to Angolans to act responsibly at this moment to avoid tensions and conflicts ahead of the August 24 elections.
Dom Filomeno Vieira Dias urged believers to pray for the country and its rulers, institutions and ongoing political and social processes.
The religious leader stressed that believers have the opportunity to give an example of civic culture and friendship, underlining that the testimony of each one can be a source of peace, fraternity, union, dialogue, respect, and peaceful socialization.
The Archbishop spoke of the need to respect the rights of each citizen, always seeking peace, justice, concord, true progress and morality in all public life.
To the young people, Dom Filomeno Vieira Dias, said he wishes that they prepare themselves well, instilling new forces of honesty, competence, and generosity in social relations.
The pilgrimage to Muxima was attended by about 1,300 pilgrims coming from various catholic dioceses of the country and abroad.
