Menongue - The president of the Cuando Cubango Provincial Electoral Commission (CPE), Felisberto Cahuti Canhanga, today asked the new municipal commissioners for greater responsibility in creating conditions for the success of the general elections on 24 August.
He was speaking during the swearing in ceremony of seven municipal election commissioners, representing the political parties MPLA (two) and PRS (five).
According to the chairman of the CPE, the new members should exercise their duties with greater responsibility in the places where they are posted, focusing on the transparent organisation of the general elections, guided only by the principle of legality and non-partisan bias.
He recalled that although the commissioners are appointed by trust of the political parties and Coalitions of Political Parties to serve on the Provincial Electoral Commission for a period of five years, renewable for the same period, they must be free of any partisan political activity.
Felisberto Cahuti Canhanga hopes that the provincial and municipal commissioners will be devoid of any political intention, complying only with the principles of the National Electoral Commission, with zeal, intelligence, knowledge and experience, in the perspective of the equidistant accomplishment of the electoral process.
