Luanda – United States of America (US)’s ambassador to Angola Tulinabo Salama Mushingi Wednesday in Luanda denied his country’s interference in the Angolan electoral process.
As for the US meddling in country’s election, scheduled for 24 August this year, the diplomat told the press that the electoral process is a matter for the Angolans.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 5th anniversary of the American Chamber of Commerce in Angola (AmCham-Angola), Tulinabo Salama Mushingi added that it was up to the contending political parties to persuade voters with the best programme.
On the political and economic reforms, underway in the country, he said that Angola, on its own initiative, had already begun the process. He stressed the United States' permanent commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the countries.
In the economic field, he said that 15 US companies, whose sectors he did not name, were on the Angolan market, six of which are operating and the remainder are in the integration phase.
The US ambassador stressed the funding from his country's "Sun Africa" company, which has already resulted in the creation of solar energy parks in Angola.
The Company is located in Baía Farta and Biópio, both in coastal Benguela province.
He underlined the launch of the US telecommunications company Africell over the last four years, whose investment stands at around USD 300 million.
Ambassador Tulinabo Salama Mushingi also spoke of the laying of the first stone for construction of Soyo refinery in northern Zaire province in the last May, estimated at USD3.5 billion.
