Luanda - A message from the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, was delivered Wednesday in Pretoria (South Africa) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
The letter was delivered by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Hanan Morsy.
During the meeting, the head of Angolan diplomacy was informed of Egypt's candidacy for the post of Vice-President of the African Union Commission, a position in competition with the Kingdom of Morocco and Algeria.
Relations between Angola and Egypt are marked by historical, political, economic and cultural ties.
The two countries have worked to intensify cooperation in a wide variety of sectors and maintain an ongoing dialogue in regional and international forums such as the African Union and the United Nations.
Téte António is in the South African capital as part of president João Lourenço's state visit to South Africa. ART/DAN/AMP
