Luanda - The permanent representatives of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to the UN, in New York, praised, on Tuesday, the recent progress registered in the implementation of the Luanda process.
During the meeting, chaired by the Angolan ambassador Francisco José da Cruz, diplomats praised the leadership of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in fulfilling the mandate entrusted by the African Union (AU), to mediate the diplomatic crisis between DRC and Rwanda.
The Angolan diplomat provided information on the latest developments about the mediation, which culminated in the signing of the ceasefire agreement, in force since August 4th of the current year.
During the meeting, SADC ambassadors also discussed the preparations for the Future Summit, to be held from 22 to 23 September in New York, during the High-Level week of the 79th Session of the UN-General Assembly.
The event will bring together world leaders to forge a new international consensus to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the achievement of its objectives.
During the work, SADC ambassadors also focused on preparations for the 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which begins Friday August 17, in Harare, Zimbabwe. SC/CF/DOJ
