Luanda - The Angolan ambassador to Cuba Maria Cândida Teixeira highlighted, in Havana, the Cuban capital, the progress made by Angolans in terms of education, health, infrastructure and the energy sector, since 2002, as fundamental pillars to achieve a prosperous future.
Speaking on the achievements reached by Angola in 22 years of peace, the diplomat said the tranquility that the country is experiencing provides the necessary basis for sustainable development, allowing the country to be reconstructed, revitalize the economy and restore the dignity and well-being of the Angolans.
Speaking to an audience of employees from the diplomatic mission in Cuba, former Cuban internationalist soldiers who fought in Angola and young students, the diplomat highlighted the importance of Cuba in the transformation process of the country.
“Cuban doctors, educators and engineers have worked side by side with their Angolan colleagues, sharing knowledge and experiences that have contributed significantly to our development efforts”, the diplomat said.
This partnership is a testimony to the spirit of fraternity and cooperation that unites the both, the statement said.
The diplomat highlighted that April 4 marks the end of one of the longest and most tragic periods of the conflict in Angola and the beginning of an era of hope, progress and unity for Angolans.
Maria Cândida Teixeira said the anniversary symbolizes the resilience of the human spirit and the ability of Angolans to overcome adversity, in search of a common goal (peace).
