Luanda - Estonian ambassador for Africa Daniel Schaer Friday in Luanda considered the Presidency of Angola in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) an excellent opportunity for the execution of the strategic plans of his country to the African continent, in particular the region.
The diplomat was speaking ahead of the 43rd Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, scheduled for 7- 17 August in Luanda, during which Angola will take over the leadership of the regional organisation.
During the meeting with the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, the diplomat also expressed his country's willingness to work with Angola on development of the SADC region.
According to him, Estonia has come up with projects focused on Infrastructure Development, Industrialisation, Road, Airport, Livestock, Fishing and Energy sectors.
The diplomat highlighted the need for closer ties between the communities of the two States, in order to accelerate and facilitate the efficient implementation of bilateral cooperation plans.
At the meeting, the two interlocutors analysed matters of interest for bilateral cooperation between the two States, in particular the increase in support for the diversification of the economy and development of the digitisation sector.
The meeting between the two diplomats followed the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Angola that will boost cooperation ties between the two countries.
Daniel Schaer highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Governance and Administrative Modernisation, signed in April this year, in Tallinn (Estonia), as a means of achieving the established objectives.
Estonia is strongly interested in cooperating with Angola in the implementation of digital technology systems, as well as in matters of blue economy and green technology for the protection of the oceans. FMA/SC/NIC
