Luanda - Angolan ambassador to Bahrain Albino Malungo met in Manama with the Parliamentary leader of that country, Ahmed Almusalam, to address the Angolan participation in the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
"It is with great satisfaction that I leave this meeting", said the Angolan diplomat at the end of the meeting, having underlined Bahrain's interest in seeing the presence of a delegation from the Angolan counterpart at the IPU meeting.
The 146th General Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) will take place in the capital of Bahrain from 11 to 15 March this year.
Prior to the meeting with the Parliamentary leader of that Middle East state, the non-resident Angolan ambassador to Bahrain, Albino Malungo, participated in a preparatory meeting for the event.
Inter-parliamentary Union, which was founded on 30 June, 1889, the is an
international organisation of Parliaments.
Unlike other international organisations, it is not an Intergovernmental Organisation, but an institution for the promotion of cooperation among Parliaments.
The IPU works under the United Nations system and has as its fundamental purpose the achievement of peace, cooperation among peoples and the consolidation of representative institutions.
The organisation has 178 affiliated national Parliaments and 12 associated regional Parliamentary Assemblies.
